Zada Odessa Coffman Pekoc, 90, of Plano, IL passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Season’s Hospice in Naperville, after suffering a stroke. She was born September 15, 1926 to H. Glenn Coffman, Sr. and Martha Brooks Coffman in Sandwich, IL. She married John L. Pekoc on March 26, 1949 at First Baptist Church in Plano. They were married for almost 65 years until his passing in 2014.
Zada taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for many years, a time she truly treasured. She had been involved with her children in school, and active with them in all their scouting activities. Zada loved to travel, remembering details of each and every trip. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and Fox Valley Festival Chorus. Her interests were many including genealogy, the arts, and antique collecting. Zada loved a good hot cup of coffee and politics, and was a long-time election judge. Her love of canning, baking, and cooking led to her successful business, Zada Catering. She also worked for her husband at Pekoc & Lee T.V.
Zada cared about so much and so many, with a heart of gold.
Zada is survived by her children, Bradley Lynnelle Pekoc of Millington, IL, Lola John Wilkening of Carterville, IL, and Julie Bob Bennett of Plano, IL; her grandchildren, Caren Jose Villarreal, Nathan Dawn Pekoc, Colin Cassie James Pekoc, Christy Beto Lopez, and Ellie Jason Burkey; her great grandchildren, Jose and Noah Villarreal, Nash, Gavin, and Jasmine Pekoc, Quenten Pekoc, Alexys Bennett, Isaac and Alyssa Lopez, Zeppelynn and Josselynn Burkey; her sister, Neva Cooley; her brother, Frank Elaine Coffman; many nieces and nephews.
She now joins in Heaven her parents, husband, John, two brothers, Erwin W. Coffman and H. Glenn Coffman, Jr. and one sister, Devonna “Bonnie” Thompson.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano with Pastor Terry Jensen officiating. Interment will follow at Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the funeral home in Plano.
