William J. Zelasko, 87, of Sandwich, IL passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. He was born June 4, 1925 in Chicago, IL the son of William J. and Mary (Zajac) Zelasko. He married Dolores Smith on May 14, 1949 in Chicago, IL. Bill was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a proud Army Veteran serving in WWII as a member of the 556th Engineers in the Pacific Theater. Bill enjoyed wood carving and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores of Sandwich, IL; three daughters, Nancy (John) Werrbach of South Elgin, IL, Sue (Bob) Bauer of Cary, IL and Joanne (Eric) Janota of Sandwich, IL; seven grandchildren, Bill and Christopher Werrbach, Bobby and Tressa Bauer, Erika, Jessica and Matthew Janota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lottie Mazur, two brothers, Edward and Erwin Zelasko.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL with Father Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with a prayer service being recited at 4:30 p.m.
