William N. Hattamer, 78, of Robertsdale, AL passed away suddenly Sunday, October 4, 2015 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota, IL. He was born August 6, 1937 in Eau Claire, WI, the son Tobias and Julia Crawford Hattamer. He married Evelyn Newburn in Foley, AL at her parent’s home. William was a member of St. Patrick Church in Robertsdale, AL. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956-1960. He loved to read western books...he\s read every book out there it seems like, he loved reading just like his mother, Julia. William loved to take rides in his truck and look at the countryside...especially farm areas. He loved fishing but he seemed always too busy to make the time. He was a foreman at Hale Manufacturing in Foley, AL when he first married Evelyn. William later worked and retired from Civil Service at the military base in Pensacola. He farmed part-time while working outside the home. Once he retired, he was finally able to follow his passion for farming full time and took great pride in working the land. His greatest pride was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Judy Don Tucker and Karen Kevin Kichler; three sons, William N. Hattamer, Jr., Craig Janet Hattamer and Tim Vickie Hattamer; six grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Maybury and Dorothy Polhamus; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randal M. Hattamer and one sister, Mary Svengarrd.
Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Church in Robertsdale, AL. There will be a gathering of family and friends in the parish hall following the service. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
