William "Bill" Lippman, age 85, of Oswego, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July15, 2026 peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on November 11, 1940, in Boscobel, Wisconsin, to Harold Lippman and Gertrude Koecke. He graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1960 and proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a long career as a truck driver. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
For many years, Bill called Plano, Illinois, home, where he built lasting friendships, raised his family, and created countless memories that would be cherished for generations.
Bill had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially spending time on the water with a fishing pole in hand. Fishing wasn't just a hobby—it was one of his greatest passions. More than anything, Bill treasured time with his family. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who rarely missed one of his grandchildren's sporting events. Whether cheering from the stands or celebrating their accomplishments, he was one of their biggest supporters, and his love and encouragement meant the world to them.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Lippman, and his beloved great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Betty (Goddard) Lippman; his daughters, Connie (Dave) Martin of Indiana, Chris (Gary) McNanna of Millbrook, Illinois, and Carrie (Raphael) Liscano of Earlville, Illinois. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Ashley Martin, Aaron Martin, Ryan McNanna, Lauren McNanna, Melissa Peterson, and Hollie Liscano; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Though Bill faced many health challenges throughout his life, he met them with resilience and determination. His kindness, gentle spirit, and unconditional love for his family will be remembered always. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet generosity, and unwavering devotion that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire AccentCare Hospice team, especially his nurse, Noell, for the compassionate care, comfort, and dignity they provided Bill and his family during his final days. They’d also like to thank the staff and residents from Diamond Senior Apartments. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
