Wanda Kay VanPelt, 53, of Sandwich formally of Troy, IL passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sandwich Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Sandwich. She was born July 30, 1958, in Sandwich the daughter of George and Joanne (Peterson) VanPelt. Wanda was a graduate of Sandwich High School, Northern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois Law School. She worked as General Counsel for the Illinois Education Association. Wanda enjoyed reading, painting, movies, the Sandwich Fair, traveling with friends, family get-togethers, and out-fishing her brothers and sisters during vacations in northern Wisconsin.
She is survived by her parents, George and Joanne VanPelt of Sandwich; two sisters, Karen Koerner of Lake Hills, TX and Sharon Adkins of Sheridan; two brothers, Allen (Diane) VanPelt of Sandwich and Roger (Lori) VanPelt of Sandwich; five nieces, Carolyn (Dan) Wyant, Allison May, Sarah May, Julie (Carle) Wunderlich, and Danielle VanPelt; eight nephews, Jason (Sarina) VanPelt, Jake VanPelt, Travis VanPelt, Matthew Adkins, Daniel, Jacob, Isaac, and Joshua Koerner; five great nieces, Pacey Wyant, Alana and Rachel Walker, Raini Rogers and Delilah Wunderlich; one great nephew Payton Wyant.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday June 14, 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church in Sandwich with Pastor Wayne Derber officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Salem Lutheran Church.
