Walter A. “Addie” Harrah,78, of Plano, Il. passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1944 in Beckley, West Virginia. The son of Addie and Ona (Goddard) Harrah. He married Cathy Bauer on July 26, 1969 in Plano, Il. He was a member of the American Legion Leon Burson Post 395 in Plano, Il. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in Vietnam. He attended Village Bible Church in Plano, Il. Addie worked for Kendall County in the maintenance department for several years and at Illinois Bell-Ameritech until his retirement. He was an avid golfer at Cedardell Golf Club where he was a member. Most of all he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events

He is survived by his wife Cathy; three daughters, Jennifer (Giles) Nielsen of Eau Claire, WI, Julie (Ken) Aldrich of Leland, Il, and Karen (Craig) Schindler of Sandwich, Il; five grandchildren, Mitchell (Erin) Nielsen, Lauren Nielsen, Ryan Aldrich, McKenzie and Callie Schindler and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Cornerstone Church located at 17347 Pratt Rd. in Sandwich, Il. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Bannister officiating. Private Burial at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, Il. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made out to the Wounded Warriors Project.
