Virginia L. Van Deusen, 82, of Sheridan passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at Hillside Rehab and Care Center in Yorkville. She was born October 8, 1932 in Wauseon, OH, the daughter of Evelyn and Lawrence Donnell. The family moved to Rochelle and Malta, IL when Virginia was 2. She attended school in Malta, graduating in the class of 1950, with a scholarship to Northern Illinois. She married the love of her life, Lynn Van Deusen on March 4, 1951 in Malta Congregational Church. They spent the nearly almost 64 years together working side by side in projects. Outside the home, Virginia worked for Armor Dial Soap Co. in the credit union for about 8 years and driving a school bus and charter bus in her early years. After Lynn retired in 1986 they operated Van’s Auto Sales and Van Deusen’s Enterprises, building and renting houses. They both enjoyed these activities, they also enjoyed their home in Cape Coral, FL. Virginia attended church at Big Woods Congregational Church since 1964, holding many jobs.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn of Sheridan; two sons, Mike (Laura) Van Deusen of Sandwich, IL and Richard Van Deusen of Sandwich, IL; three daughters, Wanda (Randal) Brown of Oswego, IL, Cheryl (Dave) Chivers of Lake Holiday, IL and Patti (Dave) Moriarty of FL; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Marion Rumph and Ardith Berg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Danny Donnell and two grandsons, Michael Van Deusen and Andrew Chivers.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Cate officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery in Malta, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Big Woods Congregational Church.
