Virginia K. Handley

Virginia K. Handley, 87, of Earlville, Illinois passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at her home in Earlville. She was born January 2, 1920 in Hodgenville, KY the daughter of Virgil and Carrie (Scott) Gaddie. She married Glen Handley on June 1, 1940 in Leland, IL. She was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, she worked as a nurses aide at Mendota Community Hospital for over 30 years, and was an amateur poet. Virginia was a mother of five children and a beloved grandma and great grandma.

She is survived by three daughters, Glenda (Wayne) Wells of Rockford, IL, Karen Ambler of Geneva, IL, and Deb (Kerry) Tillman of Earlville, IL; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Carl (Carolyn) Gaddie of Aurora, IL; one sister, Eula (Harold) Wolfe of Ukiah, CA; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Janey Handley in 1996, her husband, Glen in 1997, and one son, Dennis in 2001, one sister, Ada Bremner, and one brother, James Gaddie.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, IL with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5th at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
