Victor A. Franzen, 64, of Somonauk, IL passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at his home in Somonauk after a 4 year courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 14, 1949 in Aurora, IL the son of Victor and Virginia (Stegmann) Franzen. He married Ivy Baum on September 1, 1969 in Aurora, IL. Victor was employed by Fox Metro Water Reclamation District in Montgomery for over 35 years, retiring in 2009. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War in 1968. He enjoyed camping, riding his Harley Davidson and remote control cars and boats.
He is survived by his wife of Somonauk; two daughters Kristy Holland of Somonauk and Tammy (Jim) Harrison of Sandwich; 8 grandchildren, Jamie, Joey, Devyn and Dylan Holland, Brittany (Tyler), Ryan, Jonathan and Jordan Harrison; one great grandchild, Landon Adrian; one brother, Vince (Peggy) Franzen of Park Falls, WI; one sister Valerie Shuhart of Silver Springs, FL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bruce and Sally Baum of Montgomery; several nieces, nephews and his loving four legged friend Brandi Rose.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Vicky Joy Franzen.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with the Pastor Leon McClimans officiating.
