Vernon Lee Ostrem, 77, of Sheridan, IL passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born April 17, 1938 in Ottawa, IL the son of Earling and Helen Wing Ostrem. He was a graduate of Serena High School in 1956. He married Joanne Kroehnke on September 4, 1965 and they spent 39 wonderful years together until her passing in 2004. Vernon was a life-long farmer in the Harding and Serena areas. He was a prior member of Fox River Luther Church of Sheridan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Doreen Lance Taylor of Morris, IL, Holly John Banister of Serena, IL and Deanna Rick Skoczen of Oak Lawn, IL; five grandchildren, Cody, Erin and Bryn Taylor all of Morris, Jasper and Cheyenne Banister of Serena; one sister Shirley Fox of Batavia and one brother Lowell Norma Ostrem of Ottawa, IL and two nieces, Carla John Stone and Rhonda John Crate and one nephew, Stanley Sampa Ostrem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister Sharon McNeilley and one brother-in-law, Robert Fox.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville with Rev. K.C. Hendrix officiating. Entombment will follow in Precinct Cemetery Mausoleum in Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the funeral home in Earlville.
