Verian Mall Cassell, 87, of Sandwich, IL., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at the Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. Daughter of the late Louis Mall and Ella Whitney, she was born on May 27, 1930, in Sandwich, IL. She married William E. Cassell Sr. on April 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1993. She was a member of the United Church of Sandwich and a retired employee at CTS of Sandwich.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Bell of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lee and Charlotte Warren of Scottsdale, AZ., William E. Jr. and Rebecca Cassell of Campbellsville, Ky., and Michael Cassell of Sandwich, IL.; her twin sister, Vivian McMaster of Somonauk, IL.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Julia Cassell and Carolynn Warren Anderson; two brothers, Charles and Franklin Mall; and three sisters, Louella Waite, Izetta Hanson, and Margaret Reinhart.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the United Church of Sandwich, with Pastor Steven Mindrup officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the ceremony in the church. Inurnment at Oak Ridge Cemetery will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
