Vera Mae Cook, 78, of Sandwich, IL passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 13, 1934 in Anna, IL the daughter of Clarence and Esta (Watson) Toler. Vera married Lowell Cook Jr. on January 1, 1954 in Anna, IL. She was a member of Somonauk Baptist Church, where she was the bookkeeper for 24 years retiring in 1999. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Melonie Gaye (David) Covert of Newark, IL; one son Brian Cook of Carol Stream, IL; two grandsons, Daniel (Kamie) Covert of Somonauk, IL and Andrew (Jessica) Covert of Newark, IL; five great grandchildren, Cody, Jacob, Allison, Conner and Dylan; two sisters, Mary Lou (Gene) Wright of Anna, IL and Beverly (Dennis) Wooden of Bradford, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Lowell Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Somonauk Baptist Church in Somonauk, IL, with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Mound Cemetery rural Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
