Ty D. Gunderson

Ty D. Gunderson, 57, of Leland, IL passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born September 1, 1959 in Sandwich, IL, the son of Wayne and Annette Hanson Gunderson. He married Dawn M. Hill on April 25, 1986 in Earlville, IL. Ty served on the Leland Town Board for over 25 years, he also served on the Leland School Board for 4 years. He owned and operated G’s R Plumbing and Heating of DeKalb, IL. Ty was a proud member of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Union. Throughout his life, he served on the Leland Lions Club, Son of the American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose and he was a member of the Indian Oaks Country Club in Shabbona. Ty was a huge sports fan, proudly supporting the Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks & Illini. Most importantly, Ty was a lifelong die-hard White Sox fan!
He is survived by his wife, Dawn of Leland, IL; his father, Wayne Delores Gunderson of Leland, IL; two daughters, Alyx Chris Bickel of Leland, IL and Dr. Paige Gunderson DVM of Wheaton, IL; one granddaughter, Parker Bickel; one sister, Dr. Holly Tom Gunderson-Ratko of Michiana Shores, IN; two brothers, Chad Pat Gunderson of New Lenox, IL and Dirk Diana Gunderson of West Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
