Thomas E. Doughty

Thomas E. Doughty, 63, of Earlville, IL passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born February 1, 1950 in Ottawa, IL the son of Eugene and Mary (Mitchell) Doughty. He married Vicki Lynn Shannon on April 10, 1968 in Valparaiso, IN. Tom worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He also farmed in Earlville for most of his life. Tom liked to tinker with the farm equipment, constantly fixing everything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying but most of all spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife Vicki of 46 years; two daughters, Stephanie Dan Carlson of Ottawa, IL and Christine Bend; two granddaughters, Delaney and Darby Bend of Waterman, IL; brother, Jim and Nancy Doughty; his four-legged friend, Chip the dog and several good friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wes.

According to Tom’s wishes there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to the family.
