Theresa R. Holmes, 86, of Mendota, formerly of Leland, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 14, 1932 in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of John F. and Ellamae E. (McKnight) Brown. She married Robert G. Holmes on May 17, 1952 in Morris, IL. Theresa was very crafty, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cross stitching, and even made flower arrangements for a wedding.
She is survived by her five children: Terry Holmes; Debra (Frank) Berger of Mendota, IL, Robert (Cindy) Holmes of Sandwich, IL, Wanda (Auggie Smith) Holmes of Middlebury, IN, and Joyce Holmes of Sioux City, IA; ten grandchildren: Reese, Guy, Robert, Jason, Rick, Steve, Sandy, John, Terry, Jr., and Donald; three great grandchildren: Thiana, Chase, and Treyon; one great great granddaughter, Piper; one sister-in-law: Nancy Fister of Morris, IL; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one great grandson: Austin Kilgore, and one brother: Robert Brown.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL, with Pastor Stevan Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the funeral home in Somonauk.
