Theodore E. Larson

Theodore E. Larson, 80, formerly of Earlville, IL passed away, Monday, February 27, 2012 at Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota, IL. He was born November 16, 1931 in Ottawa, IL, the son of Thomas and Lillian (Blessing) Larson. Theodore is a Graduate of Earlville High School. He farmed in the area for several years. He served in the United States Navy from March 1951 until March 1955, where he was a member of the VP18 Navy Squadron. He married Marilyn Erickson on October 25, 1953 in Wedron, IL. In 1961, he graduated from University of Illinois and was employed by IBM as an Electrical Engineer in Computer Design for 30 years retiring in 1991. He was an active, lifelong church member and a member of the Earlville American Legion Post #549. Theodore enjoyed baseball, playing tennis, and writing short stories and poems.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Larson; three daughters, Jinann (Rod Bartlett) Larson of Reston, VA, Darla (Scott) Spurgeon of Medina, OH and Linda (Stephen) Usoz of Los Gatos, CA; six grandchildren, Nicole Knight, Michael and Melissa Usoz, Meagan, Jessica and Hannah Spurgeon; one step granddaughter, Blair Bartlett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville with Rev. Tammy S. Anderson and Rev. Dick Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, Mendota Lutheran Home and Earlville American Legion Post #549.
