Thelma Angeline Hall, 92, of Big Rock, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at her home. She was born December 24, 1921 in Miami, FL the daughter of Elmer and Susie (Bunnell) Hall. Thelma moved from Miami at age 11 to New Smyrna Beach, where she graduated from high school in 1938 and returned to Miami to attend the University of Miami where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in music. She then moved back to NSB and taught piano for a number of years. Thelma spent 2 years in New York City and then received a job offer in Texas. While in Texas, she attended graduate school at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX studying psychology for 2 years and continued studying in that field at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. During this time she worked at and retired from Braniff A/L as a ticket agent. Thelma returned to NSB when her father became ill and cared for him for many years until his passing at age 95. She continued to live in NSB and in nearby Edgewater until last November when she moved to Big Rock, IL. Thelma was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, the Greater Daytona Kappa Alumna, the American Association of University Women and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach.
Thelma leaves behind her devoted friends and caregivers, Pamela Black and Sonnie Cole as well as the many wonderful members of Mrs. Black’s family who became her family as well.
