Stephen “Steve” Pickert, 68, of Mendota passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home. He was born November 14, 1949 in Aurora, IL, the son of Clarence Leo and Shirley Jean (Howe) Pickert. Steve was an electrician at Caterpillar for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. He was always helping people however he could. Steve enjoyed having lunch or dinner with a friend every day. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching them play sports, treating them to lunch, and watching them fish.
He is survived by two children, Jeff (Jennifer) Pickert of Earlville, IL and Kristi Parrott of Sugar Grove, IL; six grandchildren, Josh Pickert, Taylor Parrott, Jared Pickert, Jadyn Pickert, Reagan Parrott and Jake Pickert; two siblings, Sandy (Al) Rhea of Mauston, WI and Scott (Kristi) Pickert of Hinckley, IL; Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, IL. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Memorials may be directed to the Earlville Lion’s Club. For more information or to sign the online guest book, go to
