Shirley O. Mann, 96, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away Wednesday November 6, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 19, 1922 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William J. and Doris D. (Jost) Ryan. She married Russell Arthur Mann on February 2, 1943 in Chicago, IL. After she retired, Shirley worked at the Brookfield Zoo for many years. She bowled for numerous leagues. She enjoyed all sports, especially her love for the Chicago Cubs. Shirley and her father were at Comiskey Park in 1940 when Bob Feller threw out an opening day no hitter. She even worked for the Cubs and Sox at one time. She was dubbed the best baseball player in the family.
She is survived by her three children, Lorne (Sharen) Mann Sr. of Sandwich, IL; Kathleen Yerkovich of Sandwich, IL; Melissa Mann of Sandwich, IL; one sister, Patricia (Charles) Petrucciani of Indianapolis, IN; one grandson, Lorne Mann Jr. of Sandwich, IL; one great grandson, Thomas Mann of Shabbona, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children; her daughter in-law, Linda S. Mann; son in-law, Micheal T. Yerkovich Jr.; one sister, Jean Robbins; and one brother, John R. Ryan.
