In Loving Memory of Shirley Maloy
With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Maloy on May 4th, 2025 at Lightways Hospice & Serious Illness Care in Joliet, IL.
She was a beloved wife to Glen Maloy III and a devoted mother to their five children: Gwen & (Leslie) Robinson, Rebecca and (John) Eager, Daniel Maloy & April Craft, Laura & (David) Santibanez, Thomas Maloy & Allison Hibbard and nine grandchildren, Emily, Rachel, Jaxon & Lily Robinson, Jazz Craft, Roman, Sami & Yasmin Santibanez, and Clinton & Grace Eager & Justin Slagle. She is also survived by her mother, Vera Thoms and 3 siblings, Greg Thoms, Jeanne VanHorn and Karen Gauer.
Shirley was born on October 31, 1952 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Russell & Vera Thoms. She married her high school sweetheart in 1969 and dedicated over forty years of her life to raising children. She balanced the roles of chauffeur to school, sporting events, dance and karate lessons while juggling businesses in wreath making to roofing to managing rental properties. Her passions were as diverse as her talents. She loved photography, music, reading, travel, space and dessert. She will be deeply missed, as she departs, we imagine her smiling slyly, saying, "I'm glad you got to see me!"
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, July 12th from 1-4pm at the Earl Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. For more information or to sign the online guestbook go to www.EighnerFuneralHomes.com
