Sharon K. (Walters) Garbe, 72, of Mendota, IL passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Aurora surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 7, 1939 the daughter of Wilfred and Valerie Walters. She married Philip C. Garbe in December of 1989. Sharon mastered being a home maker and joined the workforce. With her zest for life, she tried her hand at many careers including working as a waitress, driving a school bus, and working as a dispatcher for the Kane County Sheriff’s office. She retired from the FAA in Aurora, after 19 years of service. Sharon had a generous spirit and a unique style. She accepted people just the way they were. Besides loving her family, Sharon had an exceptional fondness for cats and somehow cats sensed this and many showed up on her doorstep where they were accepted into her heart and home.

Sharon leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Philip; two daughters: Christina (Daniel) Clampitt and Diana (David) Garbe; four sons: William Mingus, Brian (Stacy) Mingus, Barry (Jeannette) Mingus and Michael Garbe; ten grandchildren; three great-grandsons; one sister: Linda Clay, and many nieces and nephews along with many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October, 4, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Burial will follow in Troy Grove Cemetery in Troy Grove. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to Tails Animal Shelter in DeKalb.
