Sharon L. Baker

Sharon L. Baker, 76, of Plano passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. She was born August 19, 1936 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of Alvin and Harriet (O’Neil) Johnson. She married James Baker on May 28, 1954 in Plano, IL. Sharon was a member of Plano United Methodist Church where she served on several boards and committees and Plano Kiwanis Club. She worked at Sandwich Community Hospital for many years and participated in the Ladies Auxiliary after her retirement. Her family was her consuming focus but she always found time to help anyone in need.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandy Baker-Hoag of Alta, IA; three sons, Ed (Sue) Baker of Glen Ellyn, IL, Robert (Ruth) Baker of Chicago, IL and Russ (Valerie) Baker of Plano, IL; seventeen Grandchildren; six Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Weygand of Ottawa, IL and Judy Gulley of New Castle, IN; one brother, Chuck (Nan) Johnson of Sandwich, IL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, and one son-in-law, Loren Hoag.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Plano United Methodist Church in Plano with Pastor Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Church. Memorials may be directed to Plano United Methodist Church.
