Sarah Ann (Wilkinson) Newman, 29, of DeKalb, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, IL. She was born November 27, 1993 in Morris, IL, the daughter of Michael and Cheryl (Heriaud) Wilkinson. She married Nicholas Newman on June 4, 2022 in Galena, IL. Sarah had a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and graduated from Leader Dogs School for the blind. She started her own business, Blind Girl Knitting, and later renamed it Sightless Creations, selling her knitting, jewelry, and many other crafts. She loved gardening flowers and (especially) vegetables. Sarah was a wonderful cook, baking cookies, bread, lemon cake, and was known for her chili. She volunteered at Tails Humane Society. Sarah loved hosting friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas; her parents, Cheryl Wilkinson, Mike (Dawn) Wilkinson; in-laws, Paul and Suzy Newman; two siblings, Jenna (Matt) Paulsen, and Nathan Wilkinson; two siblings-in-law, Eamon (Raya) Newman, Alexander (Jasmin) Newman; step sisters, Danielle Barbosa and Kolby Cuevas; grandma, Helen Heriaud ; grandpa-in-law, Leonard Newman; nieces and nephews, Lily, Caleb, Henry, Emmalyn, Ellis, and a niece on the way; fur babies, Sierra Mae, her service dog and Rosie Cotton; chosen sisters, Johna, Claire, and Hadley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Richard Heriaud, and Floyd and Mary Jo Wilkinson; cousin, Taylor Fallinske.
