Sandra L. Wilson, 81, of Plano, IL went home to be with the Lord and those who have gone before her on Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was born April 25, 1937, the first of three daughters to Armand “Doc” and Lucile “Lucy” Legner. She attended Sandwich schools and graduated from Sandwich High School with many friends and memories of the “Fab 6.”
After starting with the nurses training school, she met and fell in love and married Wallace Wilson on June 27, 1956 in Sandwich, IL. They were the love of each other’s lives. They enjoyed 39 years together raising their three sons in rural Plano, IL.
Music was a huge part of her life, starting in her youth. As a member of church choir, playing piano and organ at the Congregational Church in Sandwich. She went on to teach many children piano lessons at her home from the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s. Her annual recitals with her students were always the highlight of that year’s practice and lessons. Her influence will live on for many years through the lives of her students.
She is survived by three sons, Matthew (Julie) Wilson of Somonauk, IL, Daniel (Susie) Wilson of Sandwich, IL, and Edward (Shari) Wilson of Yorkville, IL; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Brooke) Wilson, James Wilson, Laura (Scott) Carpenter, Joshua Wilson, Jacob (Kristi Bennett) Wilson, Amy Wilson, and Emily Wilson; two step grandchildren, Derek (Jessica) Dierzen and Danielle (Nick) Voss; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Legner and Judy (James) Fish; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wally, her mother-in-law, Alice Wilson Barrows, her father-in-law, Clarence “Pete” Wilson, and beloved family friend, Ione “Onie” O’Neil.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano, IL with Father Andy Davy, M.I.C. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich.
