S. Stuart Montooth, 98, of Earlville, Illinois passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in Mendota Community Hospital in Mendota. He was born June 2, 1909 in Toulon, IL the son of Samuel Wilson and Elma Jane Osborn Montooth. He married Mary Sue Ireland on August 10, 1946 on Norfolk, VA. Stuart graduated from the University of Illinois with a master degree in agriculture. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He taught agriculture at Lostant, Bradford and Earlville Schools for many years. He also was a crop adjuster for Country Companies Insurance. He was certified seed inspector for Illinois Crop Improvement Association. He was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, Earlville Legion, Earlville Lions Club and prior was an Elks and Mason member.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue of Earlville; three daughters, Rebecca (William) Reckamp of Lake Villa, IL, Dorothy (Robert) McDonald of Strongsville, OH and Martha (Kenneth) Krausz of Palos Park, IL; one son, Edward (Sheila) Montooth of Potomac, MD; six grandsons and one granddaughter; one sister, Jean Winn of Toulon, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
