Rudolph E. “Rudy” VanOvermeiren, 82, of Yorkville passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Sandwich. He was born July 31, 1932 in St. Charles, the son of Franciscus Julius and Emma (Shoonvleit) VanOvermeiren. Rudy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Yorkville. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in Company C, 129 Infantry Regiment.
He is survived by four daughters, Marilyn VanOvermeiren of Yorkville, IL, Marcia (Jim) Moyer of Rockford, IL, Mary (Joseph) Henderson of Cape Coral, FL and Amy (Steve) Henderson of Sandwich, IL; six sons, Matthew (Kass) VanOvermeiren of Batavia, IL, Mark (Mary) VanOvermeiren of Friendship, WI, Michael VanOvermeiren of White Bluff, TN, Marty (Wendy) VanOvermerien of DeKalb, IL, Adam VanOvermeiren of Yorkville, IL, Rane (Shauna) VanOvermeiren of Jacksonville, NC; twenty-three grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his significant other, Dorothy Miller of Yorkville, IL and her children, Phyllis Baylor, Jeff (Kathy) Jackson, Georgia (Gerri) Jackson and Alice Gram.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Patricia (Nee) McDonald and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville with Father Matt Lamoureux officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Bristol. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville. Memorials may be directed to the family.
