Rosemarie Jeanette Prokopec, 88, of Sandwich, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. She was born April 24, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of George and Irene (Filip) Petricek. She married Jerry John Prokopec on November 30, 1946 in Berwyn. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk. She enjoyed volunteering at Fox Valley Older Adult Services. Family was her priority and her greatest joy.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue (Robert) Szafranski of Sandwich; four sons, Jerry (Marcia) Prokopec of Rochester, IN, Steve Prokopec of Naperville, Randy Prokopec of Goodyear, AZ and Joel Prokopec of Phoenix; seventeen grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jason) Lau, Jerry Prokopec, Michael Szafranski, Margaret (Cory) Wolski, Meredith (Aaron) Szafranski, Dianna (Tim) Richards, Steven (Kamberly Nelson) Prokopec, Phillip Prokopec, Stephanie Prokopec, Ronnie (Nicole) Prokopec, Ryan (Laura) Prokopec, Nora (Jim) Redbeck, David Prokopec, Nicole (Eric) Bouse, Jeffrey (Christina) Prokopec, Jr, Kimberly Rothe and Laken Prokopec: twenty-eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step parents, Dr. A. A. (Loretta) Broz, her husband, Jerry, one son, Jeffrey Prokopec, two great grandchildren, two half-brothers, Ronald and Louis Broz.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
