Rose Fay (née Mortimer, formerly Jacobsen), 86, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her three loving daughters. Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Rose emigrated to the United States in 1957 as a young single woman, embarking on a life filled with love, family, and adventure. Her journey took her across several states, including New York, Illinois, Missouri, Alabama, and Florida. In 1958, she married John Jacobsen, with whom she shared 19 years of marriage before divorcing in 1978. The following year, Rose married William R. Fay, and they enjoyed 17 years together until his passing. Rose was the proud mother of three daughters: Deborah Jacobsen of New Smyrna Beach; Karen Jensen (Randy) of Magnolia Springs, Alabama; and Kimberly Lange (Edward) of New Canaan, Connecticut. She was a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren-Lindsey Snowden, Lauren Hansen, Allison Jensen, Avery Jensen, Margaret Lange, and Cooper Lange-and cherished her seven great-grandchildren: Finley, Elliot, Lennon, Isla, Remi, Stevie, and Marley. Rose is also survived by her three beloved sisters: Maiden Patterson of Midlothian, Scotland; Alice Delle Donne of West Palm Beach, Florida; and Margaret Bogardus of Goodyear, Arizona, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews in Scotland. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose greatest joy was her family. Rose's legacy is one of love and dedication to those closest to her. Over the years, Rose enjoyed volunteering at various Senior Centers, Meals on Wheels and Food Kitchens, serving others and making many new friends. She was an avid reader and loved watching documentaries. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her life be a source of comfort and inspiration to her loved ones.
