September 12, 1948 — October 13, 2015

Rosabelle D. Harmon, 87, of Leland, IL passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Willow Crest in Sandwich, IL. She was born March 5, 1928 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Russell and Mary Reynolds Guard. She married Richard F. Harmon on September 12, 1948 in Wayne, OH. The mother of five, Rose was a housewife doing sewing out of her home until July of 1978 when she opened her own shop, Rose’s Tailoring and Alterations in Somonauk, IL. She did the altering for The Henrich Shop and Wiley’s Clothing Shop, both prominent Somonauk businesses at the time. Rose was a gifted seamstress and in later years enjoyed creating doll dresses for her great granddaughter, quilts, kitchen items and more, often without a pattern, using only her imagination and her extensive fabric stash to guide her. In addition to being a talented sewer, Rose was an avid crocheter and stitched many blankets, slippers and keepsakes for her family and friends. Rose enjoyed spending summers with her husband in Danbury, WI, fishing and visiting the local casinos. She lived an active life in her own home until January of 2014 when she suffered a stroke that left her bound to a wheelchair, with limited speech and movement. Her family is comforted in knowing that Rose is at peace, and that her hands are busy once again crocheting and sewing. She is survived by her five children, Tom Jackie Harmon of Somonauk, IL, Ted Mary Harmon of Jacksonville, FL, Pat Arnie Harto of Sycamore, IL, Peg Stan Nelson of Longville, MN and Quint Donna Harmon of Coal City, IL; eleven grandchildren, Amy Jay Wiegman, Zach Amber Harmon, Steve Lisa Harmon, Matthew Harmon, Tim Dee Dee Harmon, Richard Jennifer Harmon, Jenny Garrett Hunt, Molly Harto, Brett Harto, Brandon Vicki Nelson and Kyle Harmon; ten great grandchildren, Ellie, Spencer, Gus, Bodee, Arly, Jacob, RJ, Johnnie, Amelia and Gunnar; one niece, Bonnie Metcalf of Bowling Green, OH; one nephew, Jimmie Garner of Indianapolis, IN.
