Ronald G. Rumney, 58, of Sandwich, IL passed away, Sunday, September 25, 2011 at his home. He was born August 24, 1953 in Sandwich, IL, the son of Robert and Rosetta (Anderson) Rumney. He married his high school sweetheart, Becky Johnson on July 14, 1973 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk. They were married for 38 years.
Ron was currently disabled from a motorcycle accident that occurred in 1997. Prior to the accident he was employed at All-Steel, Inc. in Aurora for 23 years until they moved the company out of state. He then worked at Tri-County Concrete in Sandwich. He truly enjoyed that job.
Ron loved being outdoors, especially in the woods enjoying nature. He always felt at peace in the timber. All that knew him, know he had an adventurous spirit and was deeply devoted to his wife and family.
He was guided in his spiritual life through his membership at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Somonauk. He served as occasional greeter which brought inspiration to others.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Becky, his two sons, Kyle (Jessica) Rumney from Gold Canyon, AZ and Aaron Rumney from Aurora, IL; three grandsons, Jerod and Brandon Rumney of Aurora, IL and Lincoln Rumney of Gold Canyon, AZ; one granddaughter, Victoria Rumney of Gold Canyon, AZ; his mother, Rosetta Rumney of Deland, FL; his sister, Carol (Bill) Beebe of Neptune Beach, FL; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Barbara Johnson of Somonauk; brother-in-law, Jeff (Bonnie) Johnson of Somonauk, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Cecilia Hitchcock.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Rumney in 1974 and his father, Robert Rumney in 2009 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk with Rev. Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
