Ronald J. McGee, 73, of Leland, Illinois passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born December 25, 1937 in Chicago, IL the son of Charles and Hilda (Wille) McGee. He married Becky J. Fisher on December 17, 1957 in LasCruces, NM. Ron was a loving husband of 54 years , father, grandfather and great grandfather, who was always willing to help out a friend. Ron served with the Army Reserves from 1955 -1963 as a Staff Sargent. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sandwich Moose Club and Tiger’s Club in Aurora. He was a semi-truck driver for over 38 years for Teamsters Local #673.
Ron is survived by his wife, Becky of Leland; one son, Michael McGee of Sandwich and his daughters, Jenneal Needs, Amanda and Stephanie McGee; one daughter, Deborah (David) Lehmann of Sandwich and her children, Lyndsay and Megan Walsh and Stephanie and Jake Lehmann; five great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Lt. Col. Chuck (Becky) McGee and Eddie (Alicia) McGee; three half-sisters, Peggy (Denny) Fillinger, Lindy (Dale) Hinds and Kathy Metzger and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Fr. Thomas Brantman officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 3:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
