Ronald Carl Hebel, 59, of Sandwich, IL passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his home in Sandwich, IL. He was born March 18, 1953 in Chicago, IL, and was the third son of George and Helen (Riley) Hebel. Ron was a graduate of Sandwich Community High School and Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL. He had worked as a metallurgical technician with Ampco-Pittsburgh Metals, and had assisted at a local animal shelter. Ron was an All-Conference Center on the Sandwich High School Football Team, a fisherman, an avid electronics enthusiast, and had a life-long interest in wildlife. In the last few years he provided great assistance and companionship for his mother, Helen. Ron always had a big heart and a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother, Helen, of Sandwich, IL, three brothers, Robert (Quintana) Hebel of Genoa, IL, Richard (Maryelyn) Hebel of New Port Richey, FL, and James (Sheila) Hebel of Sandwich, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
