Roberta J. Kraus, 75, of Somonauk passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Sandwich Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich. She was born May 9, 1940 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Willis Christian and Mary Elizabeth Huggins Dowd. She married Donald F. Kraus on June 21, 1958 in Somonauk. Roberta was a member of Union Congregational Church in Somonauk where she had formerly served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and was active in the choir. She was employed by Somonauk High School for 32 years retiring in 2000. Roberta was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed playing cards and puzzles but her greatest love of all was her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Keith Adkins of Somonauk; one son, Brad Kraus of Sandwich, IL; two grandchildren, Jaclyn and Joel Adkins both of Somonauk, IL; one step grandson, Seth Sue Adkins of Foster City, CA; three great grandsons, Logan, Liam and Lucas; two step great grandsons, Silas and Slade; one sister, Beverly Bower of Oswego, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Melissa Kraus and one son-in-law, Thomas Neuenkirchen.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Rev. Michelle Prentice-Leslie officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Somonauk. Burial will be private at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL.
