Robert Walton, 80, of Aurora, IL passed away, Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Countryside Care Centre in Aurora, IL. He was born September 1, 1930 in St. Augustine, Texas, the son of Thomas Wright and Pauline (Brewer) Walton. He married Mavis E. Maloy on September 24, 1961 in Monroe, WI.
He worked on the pipeline across the United States for many years. He was employed by Jim Abens Construction in Aurora. He was very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora serving as an usher and working with the youth in Logos. He enjoyed golfing, flowers, his home state of Texas and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Walton of Aurora; three step children; Judy (Roger) Hatfield of Big Rock, IL, Jim (Nikki) Meade of Morris, IL and Caryl (Jim) Lindsey of Christopher, IL; his step daughter-in-law, Janet Meade of West LaFayette, IN; eight step grandchildren; Eric (Terri) Hatfield of Shabbona, Lance Hatfield of Christopher, IL, Mark (Stacey) Meade of Castle Rock, CO, Christi Meade of Chicago, IL, Jaime (Jason) Metcalf of Sandwich, Jordan (Dan) Thom of Hinckley, Jan Michael Meade of Flagstaff, AZ and Lanette Bailey of Sesser, IL; twelve step great grandchildren; two brothers, Alton Walton of Waco, TX and his twin brother, Ronzie (Barbara Walton) Walton of Jasper, TX and three nephews, Curtis Walton of Weatherford, TX, Larry Walton of Waco, TX and Ron Thomas Walton of Jasper, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step son, Tom Meade and several half sisters and brothers.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with Rev. Stephen C. Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at noon on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Provena Hospice or First Presbyterian Church in Aurora.
