Robert W. Strong, 94, of Earlville, IL passed away, Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota. He was born on February 7, 1920 in Earlville, IL, the son of Robert A. and Perley (Walker) Strong. Robert served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He married Rose Marion Stubbs on January 25, 1958 in Earlville. He owned and operated Strong & Strong Co. in Earlville for many years. He was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, past Chairman of the Board, past president of the Methodist Men’s, Lay Leader, delegate to Annual Conference, and past president of the Methodist Foundation of the Northern IL Conference. Member of the Board of Directors of National Bank of Earlville, Charter Member and Past President of Earlville Lions Club. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International award. Past Commander and member of the Earlville American Legion Post #549. Member of Earlville Masonic Lodge Meridian #183, and member of Consistory and Shrine, past member of Mendota Shrine Club. Member of LaSalle County Farm Bureau, The Tower Club of Wartburg College, President’s Club of North Central College. Member of Mayo Legacy, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, past President and retired member of the Board of Earlville Country Club. Past member of Board of Trustee’s of Sandwich Community Hospital. Member of Earlville Business Association.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Beth Voga of Green Lake, WI; one granddaughter, Audra (Clayton) Hazelberg of Green Lake, WI; one brother Louis A. Strong of Sun City, Arizona; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Marion, one daughter Sandra Kay Strong; one brother William A. Strong, and two sisters, Caroline Silver and Maryanna Hornback, and one son-in-law, Charles Voga.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Earlville United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, January 27th in the church until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
