Robert Michael “Mike” Shreffler of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Ottawa Regional Hospital. He was born on September 7, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Robert F. and Nancy Jean (Peterka) Shreffler.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Sandwich High School. He worked at Caterpillar and RGIS. He was a voracious reader, loved to fish, was an avid sports enthusiast, and was a life-long White Sox, Green Bay Packers and New York Nicks fan. He was active in the Women’s Amateur Softball Association and coached the Pekin Lettes of Pekin, the Fox Valley Rads of Aurora as well as the Landmark Lettes of Peoria. He also enjoyed gardening and caring for his cat Callie. He had many friends—most of whom affectionately called him “Jerry” as he reminded them of Jerry Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
