Robert P. Reck, 98, formerly of Southwest side of Chicago, IL passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona, IL. He was born July 7, 1912 in Chicago, IL the son of John and Cecelia Mayer Reck. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the US Army where he was a POW in Germany. Before retiring at the age of 90, he owned and operated Reck's Hardware Store in Chicago. He enjoyed getting together with his friends for breakfast and dinners and listening to classical music.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet (Wally) Hartwig of Somonauk, IL; two grandchildren, Diane (Aaron) Grandgeorge and Stephanie (Scott) Hannibal both of Somonauk, IL; four great grandchildren, Regan and Lance Grandgeorge, Weston and Wyatt Hannibal, seven nephews, John, Jim, Bob, Jerry, Richard, Jeffrey and Tom and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marie, his second wife, Dorothy; one sister, Lillian, two brothers, Frank and John.
