Robert Clarence Phillips, 69, of Newark, IL formerly of Steward and Hinckley, IL passed away, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home in Newark. He was born November 8, 1943 in Morris, IL the son of Clarence and Vivian (Caswell) Phillips. He married Patricia A. Harriman on July 9, 1977 in Morris, IL. Robert was member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge # 1016. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Before retiring he worked at Caterpillar in Montgomery for over 30 years. Robert also worked at Shabbona Health Care and Unity Hospice of Rochelle for several years. He enjoyed camping with his family and many friends and bowling at Idle Hour Lanes in Sandwich.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; two daughters; Donna Marie (Kurt) Rothrock of Pensacola, FL, and Kristy Elise (Tony) Marisette of Sandwich, IL, two sons, Richard Patrick (Heather) Phillips of Killeen, TX, and John Joseph (Shana) Phillips of Harker Heights, TX, 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Jean (George) Grindstaff of Minooka, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Jeremy and one brother, George.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL, with Rev. Ken Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the funeral home.
