Robert J. "Bob" Meyer, 78, of Somonauk, IL passed away, Saturday, October 03, 2009 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born September 13, 1931 in rural Leland, IL, the son of Louis Charles and Viola Erickson Meyer, Sr. He married Mary Fox on August 2, 1952 in Somonauk. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was a carpenter and life long farmer. He farmed on the farm where he was born and raised in rural Leland. In his retirement years, he was the caretaker for St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Forresters, Somonauk Lions Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Somonauk; two brothers, James (Gertrude) Meyer and Richard (Marjorie) Meyer both of Somonauk; two sisters, Eleanor Salisbury of Montgomery and Dorothy Adrian of Somonauk; one sister-in-law, Barbara Meyer of Somonauk and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Louis C. Meyer, Jr., and Harold Meyer and two in infancy; three sisters, Virginia Miller, Gertrude Huber, and Mildred Meyer.
