Robert J. Lonie

Robert J. Lonie, 90, of rural Earlville, IL passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 24, 1922 in Spring Valley, IL the son of Robert and Katherine (Slowey) Lonie. He married Theresa M. O’Rourke on August 30, 1945 in St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Earlville. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Mendota Elks Lodge # 1212. Robert farmed in the Earlville area his entire life. He enjoyed bowling in his early days. Robert and Theresa enjoyed traveling to see their children.

He is survived by his wife Theresa; two daughters, Carolyn (Wally) Wilson of Moline, IL and Mary Ellen (Robert) Janousek of Glenns Ferry, ID; three sons, Robert F. Lonie of Earlville, Thomas (Linda) Lonie of Roseburg, OR and William (Kristi) Lonie of Earlville; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ann (Leo) Kelly of Earlville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Earlville with Rev. Chris G. Haake officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Earlville. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville. Prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
