Robert R. Johns, 76, of Newark passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. He was born October 21, 1937 in Sandwich, IL the son of Arvil “Lefty“ and Emily (Green) Johns. He married Marilyn Christenson on December 30, 1956 in Plano, IL. Robert was a member of Plano United Methodist Church for his whole life. He served in the US Army as a general’s driver in the mid 50’s. Robert was a barber in Plano in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Later he worked at the ANR Pipeline of Sandwich as a superintendent until his retirement. He enjoyed the farm and his farm life, especially his draft horses. His greatest love of all was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Newark, IL; two daughters, Lori (Tony) Woosley of Sheridan, IL and Stacy (Randy) Rehberg of Lisbon, IL; three grandchildren, Hailey, Logan and Taylor all of Lisbon, IL; two sisters, Patricia (Don) Clason of Somonauk, IL and Emily “Tooter” (Bill) Bracken of Waianae, HI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Plano United Methodist Church in Plano with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
