Robert H. "Bob" Hardin, 75, of Earlville, IL passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Heritage Health in Mendota surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 19, 1939 in Greenfield, Iowa the son of Harold and Ruby (Adamson) Hardin. His mother died when he was 8 years old. His father then married Irene Dorsey, who lovingly took over the job of raising Bob and his siblings, Ronald, Barbara and Sharon. Bob’s youngest sister, Linda was born to Harold and Irene. Bob lived in Greenfield, IA until he joined the United States Air Force, He served from 1956 to 1960. While serving, he married Beverly Thoms of Sleepy Eye, MN on July 21, 1958. After serving he held several different jobs. Bob sometimes held three jobs at a time when he was younger to help support his growing family. Driving truck was his main occupation throughout his life, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He retired in 2002 as a member of the Teamsters Union. Family was very important to Bob and he loved spending time with them. He was a very sentimental and caring father and husband. Bob was an avid John Wayne fan and enjoyed watching westerns and old war films. He loved to laugh and share stories. He could talk to anyone for hours and hours. Bob was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, where he served as a past President of the Methodist Men and was involved in the Lions Club and the Earlville American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of 56 years; three sons, Kevin (Diane) Hardin of Sleepy Eye, MN, Kerry (Kate) Hardin, and Kipp (Krissy) Hardin both of Earlville, IL; one daughter, Kristine (Brian) Foley of Mendota, IL; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Mitchell of Greenfield, IA, Sharon (Marvin) Stewart of Bondurant, IA and Linda (Dean) Griffith of Bridgewater, IA, one sister-in-law Rowena Hardin of Greenfield, IA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Irene Hardin; one brother Ronald Hardin and one brother-in-law Marian Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville with Military Honors by the Earlville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
