Robert M. "Bob" Guehler

June 15, 1925 — March 21, 2013

Robert Max “Bob” Guehler, 87, of Somonauk passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 15, 1925 in Sandwich, the son of Max and Ione (Paulson) Guehler. He married Donna Sanderson on September 20, 1947 in Lee, IL. Bob was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk, where he served on the church council, he was a past 4-H Club Leader and Sandwich Fair Director. He was also a member of The Lions Club, DeKalb Farm Bureau, Somonauk Business Organization, Northern Illinois Farm Land Brokers; he also owned and operated Lake Realty in Somonauk. Bob’s first love was farming.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Somonauk, IL; three daughters, Janice Anderson of Sycamore, IL, Jean (Peter) Fabrizius of Maple Park, IL and Judy (Joe) Boll of Darlington, WI; one son, John Guehler of Somonauk, IL; seven grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Peterson of Yorkville, IL, Nathan Fabrizius of Genseo, IL, Katherine (fiancé Justin Carnell) Fabrizius of DeKalb, IL, Tyler Fabrizius of Maple Park, IL, Jake (fiancée Samantha Runde) Boll of Baraboo, WI, Janelle Boll of Minneapolis, MN and Jason Boll of London, England; two great-granddaughters, Aliesha and Ashlyn Peterson of Yorkville, IL; one brother, Paul (Patricia) Guehler of Naples, FL and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Marilyn Guehler; 4 brothers-in-law, Joe Bross, Reider Watson, Walter Sanderson, Jr. and Ken Baker; 3 sisters-in-law, Wilma Watson, LuAnn Baker and Elaine Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 235 S. Green St. in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Arlyn Tolzmann officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Open Door of Sandwich or the American Cancer Society.
