Robert S. Diveley “Uncle Bob,” 73, of Earlville, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 18, 1952, in Sandwich, IL, the son of Hubert and Jane Diveley. Bob married Julie L. Foster on July 17, 1982, in Yorkville, IL. He was a member of the Plano Fellowship. Bob, The Man, The Myth, The Legend, known as Uncle Bob to many-even to those who weren’t related-he had a way of making everyone feel like family.
He loved Jesus and trusted in the Lord, and that faith was evident through his actions every single day.
He touched many lives with his servant’s heart. From helping with electrical problems and projects that needed to be done, or simply driving people places. Even if he didn’t know someone well, when he heard they had a need, he stepped in and volunteered his help-and they never forgot the kindness he extended to them.
Bob will also be remembered for his contagious laugh, and for his silly one-liners like: “finer than frog hair split 3 ways” “sure am glad you got to see me again” “you ain’t just looking at another pretty face” “Once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken”
He found joy in the outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob was a true patriot. He loved and served his country with pride during his time in the US Air Force. Bob retired from Caterpillar after 35 years of faithful service.
Bob is survived by his wife, Julie; his sons, Daniel (Tiffani) Diveley and Adam (Elissa) Diveley; his daughters, Laura (Joshua) Kulonis and Diana (Mike) Rose; his nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Jane Diveley; a brother, Bill Diveley; two sisters and their spouses, Martha (Russ) York and Sally (Rex) Coultrip.
Bob’s passion for the Lord was so evident. As was his love for his wife and family whom he cherished deeply. Uncle Bob lived a life of service, faith, and love-and the impact of that life will be felt for generations to come.
