Richard Glen Shermer Sr., 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 11, 2014. Richard graduated from Somonauk High School, DeVry Technical Institute, and Roosevelt University with a Bachelors degree in Production Management. He retired in January of 1999.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Abens) Shermer; his three children, Terry (Steve) Hankins, Debby Shermer, and Richard Shermer, Jr.; his grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Tekautz, Hannah (Eric) Zellmer, Victoria Shermer, Jacob Shermer and Andrew Shermer; his great grandchildren, Antonio, Ella, Owen, Austin, Giovanni, and Gunner, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert and Mildred Shermer, and his brother Dr. Robert Shermer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with Dr. Ron Sauer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the funeral home until the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery Sandwich, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Plano Bible Church Mission Fund or Sky Lodge Christian Camp (in Montello, WI).
