Richard “Dick” Osmund, 95, of Serena, IL peacefully passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle, IL where he had been lovingly cared for the last six months. Dick was born March 24, 1930, in Ottawa, IL to Joseph and Margaret (Bublitz) Osmond. He married Eileen Bernard on November 25, 1959, in Harding, IL.
He was a member of the Serena United Methodist Church, Sheridan American Legion, past member of the Serena Lions Club and the LaSalle County Farm Bureau. Dick farmed in Serena for most of his life and was a Pioneer Seed dealer for over 20 years. He was a proud veteran of the US Army. He served from November 13, 1951, to November 14, 1953 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany where he drove trucks.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday December 27, 2025, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. His son, Jody will speak a memorial at 5:45 pm and guests are invited to join the family to share food and memories downstairs at the funeral home afterwards.

Richard “Dick” Osmund is survived by two daughters: Betty (Jerold) Smith and Terri (Rocky Hamel) Osmund. Two sons: Martin Osmund and Jody (Beth) Osmund.
Seven grandchildren: Brittany Smith, Chance (Lindsey) Smith, Caleen (Colton) Jones, Margaret (Adam) Wiesbrook, Richard Osmund, Duncan Osmund, and Jack Osmund.
Eight great grandchildren: Zoe, Joel, Evan, Brianna, Canelo, Brystol, Bentley, and Beverly.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eileen, of 65 years, two sisters Norma Jean (Clarion) Swenson and Donna (Ralph) Nanninga.
