Richard M. “Rich” Mueller, 87, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home. He was born November 15, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edwin C. and Bertha Rohwer Mueller. He married Barbara Lee Voight in 1954.
Rich was a lifetime member of the Sandwich Sportsman’s Club. In the early 50’s he became a partner of the Family Precision Printing Company, which was started by his father. He was in the Navy Reserves for several years in the early 50’s. Rich was a top swimming official for YMCA in the 80’s – 90’s and remained active with swim meets until 5 years ago. He was a great supporter of the NRA, Law Enforcement and anything to do with the VA. Rich always gave more for others, putting himself last, especially kids.
He is survived by five children, Dave Patti Mueller of Sandwich, IL, Diane Jim Warner of Topeka, KS, Debra Mueller of Falliston, CO, Daniel Mueller of Blue Island, IL and Linda Michael Hunt of St. John, IN; eight grandchildren, Sandy, Nicole, and Justin Werner, Stephanie, Nikki, Ryan, Alex, and Clint Mueller; five great grandchildren, Lola, Aya, Kayden, Bella, and Jade; one sister, Mickey King of Oswego, IL; his nieces and nephew, Karen Lorenzana of Oswego, IL, Chuck King of Oswego, IL, and Carol King of Minocoua, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to honor Rich will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Turner-Eighner Funeral in Somonauk, IL.
