Richard Clarence Konow

Richard Clarence Konow, age 85, of Plano, IL was called home December 1, 2021 at Rush-Copley Medical Center. Richard was born March 25, 1936 in Plano, IL, the son of Clarence William and Pearl Mildred (Lossman) Konow. He married Katherine Elaine Davis on January 9, 1957 and they shared 61 years together until her passing in 2018.
Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 on the USS Sirago (SS-485); he now stands on Eternal Patrol with his U.S. Navy brothers. Richard, a lifelong resident of Plano, served as alderman for 9 ½ years. He also served on the Fire Department for 25 years, including four years as Fire Chief. Richard worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 461. His many interests included spending time with family, hunting, coin collecting and attending Navy reunions. Mr. Konow attended Harvest Chapel in Sandwich, IL.
Richard is survived by a son, Richard W. (Tina) Konow, daughter Angela (Jon) Cornelissen, daughter Francine Konow, all of Plano, eight grandchildren, Melissa (Doug) Reiners, Richard “RJ” (Caitlyn) Konow, Ted Richards, Ainsley (Paul) Corbin, Maggie (Joe) Witz, Holly (Jon) Kulaga, Ethan Konow and Caiden Konow; four great grandchildren, Noah, Juliette and Joseph Witz and Stella Corbin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine, sister, Edna Konow, and parents, Clarence and Pearl.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 13 from 11am – 2pm at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. A graveside service will follow at 2:30pm in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating.
