Richard M. Gleason, 76, of Leland, IL passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Sandwich Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich, IL. He was born May 29, 1936 the son of Leo and Eoma Gleason. He married Mary Lou Burke in April of 1967 in Chicago, IL. At Iowa State College Richard was on the golf team and the swimming team. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a lawyer and vice president of marketing and sales for the Burlington Northern Railroad.
He is survived by one sister, Michela Tiedje; one sister-in-law, Betty Kaufman of Sandwich, IL; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Judy) Burke of Glen Ellyn, IL and Jerry (Janis) Burke of Earlville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary Lou.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Father Thomas Brantman officiating Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, until the time of Mass. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
