Richard J. Freeland, 78, of Sandwich passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich. He was born August 9, 1936 in Sandwich, the son of Robert and Olive (Datschefski) Freeland. Richard was Baptized at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sandwich. He worked at Sam and Ed’s Body Shop in Sandwich, Federal Huber in Plano, Friendship Village Workshop in Ottawa and Open Door Rehabilitation in Sandwich. Richard worked at the bowling alley and bowled in his spare time. He loved to dance to country music.
He is survived by three sisters, Jessie Haas of Plano, IL, Louise Foster of AZ and Diane (Donald R. Garcia) Haas of Sandwich, IL; one brother, Clarence Freeland of Mendota, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Pastor Joe MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the funeral home in Sandwich.
